How to Read Your Prescription

Understanding your eyeglass prescription is simpler than you think. Follow the examples below to enter your values correctly when ordering online.

Single Vision Prescription

If your prescription looks like the example shown, choose “Single Vision Lenses” and enter the values exactly as shown on your prescription.How to Measure Your PD?

Progressive Prescription

If your prescription is for progressive lenses, please follow the examples below to enter your prescription correctly.

Note: If your prescription does not include a PD value, please make sure to measure and provide your PD before ordering. How to Measure Your PD?

Sample 1

Enter the values exactly as shown on your prescription.

Sample 2: Convert to Decimal

+150 → +1.50
-75 → -0.75

Sample 3: Calculate ADD

Near OD +1.75 – Distance OD -0.50 = ADD +1.25

Note: These three examples represent the same lens prescription format. Convert values into decimal format when entering your order.

Common Prescription Terms

Abbreviations

  • OD (Oculus Dexter): Right eye
  • OS (Oculus Sinister): Left eye
  • PL (Plano): No vision correction needed — enter 0
  • DS (Diopter Sphere): No astigmatism correction needed for this eye
